Introduction

Hi! My name is Alessandra, and I am making a blog in order to share my perspective and thoughts on media and filmmaking. This space will serve as a spot to analyze films, reflect, and share my different projects (assignments). I myself can't wait to start learning and surrounding myself with the "media" world. I find it really inspiring how film specifically serves as a method to express oneself; it allows you to communicate a message without the need for words. Since I find filmmaking captivating, I've tried to explore my passion, and so I've made a few short films with my friends. I hope to personally get better at storytelling, cinematography, and editing through this class. 

In addition, I think it is a safe space to say that I am really obsessed with psychological thrillers. I love the plot twists that mess with my mind, I love the tension that they make me feel, and I love the moral ambiguity that they bring. I think some of my favorites are "The Silence of the Lambs" (1991), "Split" (2016), "Fight Club" (1999), and "Psycho" (1960). I also love any movies that make me feel moved: "The Shawshank Redemption" (1994), etc.

In conclusion, to me, film isn't just entertainment, it's a form of expression, a way to change opinions, to bring people together, and to make people feel inspired...maybe even comforted. Therefore, this blog will serve as an outlet for me to share my ideas and creations.
